chinese cuisine chop suey

Traditional Chinese Cuisine

Rice House can trace its roots back to Vinh Chop Suey. Originally from Guandong province in China (formerly Canton), Ban Truong settled in Vietnam after the beginning of World War II.

He eventually moved to the United States and opened Vinh Chop Suey in 1983 in Baden, Missouri. Ban focused on serving authentic chop suey with delicious sauces over cooked vegetables, meat, rice, and noodles.

Ban found success and eventually expanded Vinh Chop Suey from one location to two. In 1991, Vinh Truong, Ban’s son, took over the Baden branch of the family’s restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine with a Modern Twist

With the opening of Rice House in Florissant, Missouri, Kenny Truong, Vinh’s son, expanded the family’s restaurant business in 2011. Even though the restaurants have a different name, Kenny’s goals are the same as those of his father and grandfather: to serve delicious food with warm, friendly service.

As the owner of Rice House, Kenny draws on his Cantonese and Vietnamese influences and focuses on serving authentic Chinese cuisine with an Asian flair. His recipes are steeped in family history, and each dish is prepared with local, fresh ingredients. Kenny “cooks from the heart” and has added his distinctive culinary style to create food that is unique, delicious, and affordable. Diners can choose from a variety of wine and other beverages to complement the vibrant flavors of the menu.
